The Time is Out of Joint: A Shakespeare Project
Adapted and Directed by Molly Lyons Feb 26 – Mar 14, 2021 ShowTix4U The project focuses on Shakespearean themes inspired by the Bard's plays written during the plague times he survived. Designed for the Winding Road Theatre Ensemble, we explore the common ground of the Bard's plague to our current pandemic, from sickness to healing. The ensemble actors take the journey through confinement and corruption toward companionship and compassion. This 75-minute play will be performed by the Winding Road Ensemble, as a product of attending a Shakespeare Workshop directed by Molly Lyons, international actor, director, teacher, and playwright. |

Molly Lyons (Director) is an actor, director, and teacher who has worked across the US and internationally in Canada & Europe, recently transplanted from Chicago, and thrilled to now make her home in Tucson. Some of her favorite roles include: Hillary Clinton – Consolation, Ellie – Sweet Texas Reckoning, Cabdriver – Hellcab, Quickly & Worcester – Father Ruffian, Paola – Chewing on Beckett, Nurse – Romeo & Juliet, Beatrice – Much Ado About Nothing, Titania – A Midsummer Night's Dream, Cecilia – At Water's Edge and, as the last queen of Ireland in her solo show, A Most Notorious Woman. Molly has also directed such productions as: Angels Fall, On the Verge, Twelfth Night, Julius Caesar, Barber of Seville, Magic Flute, Carmen, The Foreigner, Diary of Anne Frank, The Clearing, an award-winning Glass Menagerie. Molly's education includes: Santa Clara University, California Institute of the Arts, Royal Shakespeare Company, and more. Molly has been Artistic Director of Green Wood Studios, actor training & retreats, since 1994. Acting coaching is available virtually.

Samantha Severson (Performer/Production Manager/Production Designer) attended Pima Community College for a degree in the performing arts, and is currently seeking a Bachelors Degree in Psychology. She has been able to become accomplished as an actress, director, stage manager, and technical theater designer. In Tucson, she has worked with Invisible Theater, The Rogue Theatre, and Something Something Theatre. She was previously a cast member of Astroglyde with Zombie Joe's Underground Theater in Los Angeles. Samantha has performed in such films as Overwatch, Murder: A Friendship Story, and the 2015 Phoenix Comicon finalist, Crux. She received the 2019 MAC Award for her role in Winding Road's production of Stupid F&#!ing Bird. She joined the Winding Road Theater Ensemble in the summer of 2019.

Maria A. Caprile (Performer) has served as Artistic Director since 2017. She appeared in Winding Road's main stage productions of Good People, United, and August: Osage County as well as several Winding Reads, including Monica Bauer's Christmas Break and Toni Press-Coffman's Consolation. Maria is a part-time resident of Spokane, Washington, where she was a resident artist at Interplayers Theatre. She was nominated for Arizona Star's MAC award for her direction of The Big Meal, Stupid F*!#ing Bird, and The Fantasticks, which also received a nomination for Best Musical of 2018. Maria was nominated for a Spokie for her direction of The Christmas Schooner for nationally acclaimed Spokane Civic Theatre. She is the author and director of the original play The Little Mermaid: A Tale of Aloha, produced by Spokane Children's Theatre.

Denise Blum (Performer) arrived in Tucson in 2006. Prior to that, she co-created the International Amateur Community Theater (I-ACT) in La Serena, Chile, and acted in, directed, and produced live theater for the benefit of local charities. Since arriving in Tucson, she finds herself fortunate to have worked with several local theater companies including Winding Road, The Arizona Rose, Beowulf Alley, The Comedy Playhouse, El Rio Theatre Project, St. Francis in the Heights, SheWorxx, and Speak the Speech. Some of her favorite stage acting credits include Steel Magnolias, The Lady and the Clarinet (Luba), the Little Foxes, Upton Abbey, Pieces, The Mousetrap, and In The Shadow of My Son. Her directing credits include London Suite, Strawberry Jam, Pygmalion, A Long Trip, and the Elephant Man (Assistant Director). She co-produced the 2020 Eight 10's In Tucson – ONLINE and will co-produce the upcoming 2021 festival.

Tony Caprile (Performer) has been a member of Winding Road Theater Ensemble since 2017. He has been seen in our productions of The Big Meal, Stupid F*!#ing Bird, Good People, The Fantasticks, United, Death of a Salesman, and August: Osage County. Tony is a part time resident of Spokane, Washington, where he was a resident artist of Interplayers Theatre. His appearance in Interplayers' production Rounding Third earned him a Best Actor in a drama nomination from the Spokane Inlander. Tony has conducted many a set build for Winding Road.

Tyler Gastelum (Performer) has been a member of Winding Road Theater Ensemble since 2019. A Tucson native, he graduated from the University of Arizona and the Bennett Theatrelab. He now works as a local drama teacher. Favorite roles with Winding Road include Dev in Stupid F***ing Bird and Moritz in Spring Awakening in Concert. Tyler directed shorts in Winding Road's Eight 10's festival in 2019 and 2020, as well as the Winding Read of Dusk in 2020.

Lena Quach (Performer) has been a member of Winding Road Theater Ensemble since 2020. Her recent/favorite roles include Sweeney Todd, Consolation, Carousel, The Big Meal, and The Fantasticks, for which she received a MAC Nomination for Best Actress in a Musical. She is also an OMA Design Team Artist for Tucson, Unified School District. She received ballet training with Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater and Ballet Arts.

David Alexander Johnston (Performer) arrived in Tucson in 1990 and has appeared in numerous Winding Road productions, including August Osage County, Cabaret, Rough Magic, United, Saint Joan, and Sovereign Body. He proudly played Willy Loman in Winding Road's Death of a Salesman. Most recently, he appeared as Ben in The Little Foxes. He's been seen at the Invisible Theatre in the one man multi-character show The Absolute Brightness of Leonard Pelkey. He as also appeared at the same theatre in The Value of Names, Don't Talk to The Actors, Leaving Iowa, 2 Across, Motherhood Out Loud, Olive And The Bitter Herbs, I Ought to be in Pictures, and Lebensraum, for which he received a MAC award nomination. His recent work was in the two man Trumbo. He has been seen in Arizona Theatre Company's To Kill a Mockingbird (Mr. Cunningham and Boo Radley), Much Ado About Nothing (Leonato), The Fantasticks (El Gallo) and My Fair Lady (Doolittle). He won a MAC award for playing Mr. Green in Visiting Mr. Green at Live Theatre Workshop.
