She’d like to thank her family and friends for all the support, especially as she is finishing up her Visual and Performing Arts degree at Pima and is transferring to the UofA for her Live and Screened Performance major. She hopes you enjoy the show (and that you don’t judge her for being a dog in this one)!

I'd seen him in Newsies, Miracle on 34th St, and Side Show at Arts Express Theatre not too long ago. I knew he had a rough history of being at The Gaslight Theatre, Invisible Theatre, Winding Road, Scoundrel and Scamp, and Unscrewed Theater, to name a few. He'd also been a computer technician for years, and been caught doing standup comedy, homebrewing, tabletop gaming, and baking. Like I said, a real heap of trouble.

Picture
Kelly VanShaar
TECHNICAL DIRECTOR

Kelly began his career in the performing arts in the 1970s, singing solos in school concerts and writing plays for his siblings and him to perform for their parents.  After this failed to obtain commercial success, he moved on to singing bass in his high school choir and being a vocal music major in at Eastern Arizona College, where he held a position for 4 years in the men's barbershop / doo-wop quartet.  When this failed to transition into commercial success, he tripped and fell backwards into a career in sound and video systems installation, moving up into design and training.  But after starting a family, having five kids and about 10 years of financial success, he got divorced and somewhat predictably, had a midlife crisis where he quit his stable, well-paying job and started his own media production business, working freelance doing video production, web design, music writing and recording, teaching the occasional drama or media production class at the high school or community college level, and doing video, lights and sound for community theater and public schools. After 20 years of failing to find much commercial success in all these endeavors, his secret to survival has been staying out of debt, living cheap, doing your own home repairs, and driving old cars that you fix yourself. And recently, returning to his roots, he has written a full length musical about the life of King David (starring himself) which has yet to be produced or find commercial success.
